Homework for class 3/1

I hopefully everyone is feeling better and back in action today. Thank you to those of you who posted your homework.

Overall everyone needs to throw a little more muscle into their figurative work. I am well aware that everyone prioritizes for classes at selected times. With that in mind I am going to try to juggle things a bits so that you can kick it up a notch in the tactile portion of Fig/Port.

For next week you need 25 hands and 25 feet. Come to class prepared to work in color but the approach is now open to your discretion. We will again spend a bit of time at the beginning of class getting everyone used to working with the opaque color. Those of you that were in class did a gallant job of attacking the new medium.

FYI: No class the week of GDC.
Due for March 22, after spring break is your first large project for this class. Our  project in this class will be a mastercopy with a twist. For this Thursday you need to decide which mastercopy you plan to use. Select several and bring the books or links to class to discuss. This is a process.  First do your research.  You will be adding a new story to an old composition. Using the color palette, and composition of the chosen piece, you will add new figures, "and I mean plural", two or more figures, to a master composition creating a modern day story or a new story.  I expect to see figure studies and sketches for the people you choose to use in the project in the weeks to come. They can be fellow class members or members of your family. Process is key, show me how your head works through ideation sketches.

Due Thursday March 8, posted with the examples of the compositions you  brought in to show me, please have 4 pages of ideations of the compositions you have considered. AND I WANT THOSE PAGES SHOWING ME THOUGHT PROCESS BETWEEN MULTIPLE COMPOSITIONS> FULL pages> Those will be posted by midnight Wednesday night for grading.

The final which will be a late, but LARGE part of your midterm grade, is due March 22, will be done in color utilizing the same compositional integrity of the mastercopy and ideally the same style.Hopefully this will give you time to focus on other classes during midterm week.
